About the Program:
The HCA Florida JFK Hospital/University of Miami Miller School of Medicine GME Consortium General Surgery Residency Program’s mission is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders. We are a hybrid community/University affiliated general surgery program that strives to train surgeons to gain the best experiences of both community and academic settings. We provide evidence-based care to the greater community served by our hospital which includes a vibrant elderly community, robust working class, and under-served indigent population. The diversity of our faculty, staff, residents and students reflects the diversity of the community we serve. We want our faculty, staff, and residents to feel respected, treated fairly, listened to, and accountable for the quality and advancement of the educational program. We encourage scholarship and research through dedicated research time, support staff, and our residents regularly present at regional and national meetings.
As a part of HCA Healthcare, we are driven by a single mission: “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.”
This program is designed to offer residents a rewarding, educational environment where residents are provided individualized learning opportunities by faculty and staff who support and sustain one another throughout quality care delivery.
