Description
The General Surgery Residency Program at The University of Central Florida/HCA Florida Ocala Hospital is pleased to announce the availability of Two (2) PGY-2 categorical positions with an immediate start. HCA Florida Ocala is a busy Level I Trauma Center (~5,000–6,000 activations/year) and one of three main UCF teaching hospitals, offering high-volume open, laparoscopic, robotic, and endoscopic experience, high acuity complex trauma/vascular/general surgery operative cases (>1200 through graduation), and a robust surgical critical care experience including ECMO exposure. Our program offers protected didactics helping our residents achieve top in-service scores, a simulation lab with early exposure to FES/FLS skills, and dedicated research/QI support with a track record for academic publications and society meeting presentations.
Requirements
Eligibility
- PGY-2 General Surgery resident in good standing at an ACGME-accredited program, having completed a PGY-1 GS year OR a General Surgery resident having completed a PGY-1 GS year (Full 12 months) and remains in good standing at an ACGME-accredited program.
- USMLE Step 3 completed; passing Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3
- IMGs: valid ECFMG certification
- J-1 (ECFMG-sponsored) visas only — no H-1B sponsorship

- ABSITE scores to date;
- New Innovations Milestones and evaluations to date;
- ACGME case logs to date; list of PGY-1 (and PGY-2 to-date) rotations on letterhead;
- Three (3) letters of recommendation including one from your current Program Director confirming good standing and release from contract (if a current PGY 2);
- Personal statement;
- Medical school transcript and MSPE;
- ECFMG certificate (for IMGs).
